Very large beautiful room! Clean, spectacular old chairs and furniture, large bathroom, and all the amenities. Had a great dinner at the bar, place was absolutely packed, but we had a stunning seafood chowder and portebello on brioche at the bar. Good service in a hotel that predates my country by 75 years! A wonderful evening for my wife and I.
First timers here to Glenbeigh and to the hotel for food. Very busy even on a Monday evening around 6.30pm. Impressed as being well run. Walk in service to pub, we had to wait at the bar about 5 minutes for a table. We ordered the cheesy garlic ciabatta to share between us at €6.45. I was very pleased that the kids food (they shared 1 portion of sausage and chips €7) arrived at the same time as the starter though we hadn't asked for this. This hotel is attuned to families needs and is kid friendly. For mains, my husband ordered the fish special (salmon) with smoked salmon mash &vegetables at €19.95 & I ordered the seafood mariniere with salad and chips at €23.95. Excellent mains of very decent portions and freshness. I complimented the waitress and I presume manager when we were leaving and she said people travel a distance for the dish I had. I understand why but I probably would recommend my dish with mash and vegetables as opposed to the salad I had. Definitely recommended if passing by especially the fish dishes.
We stayed 2 nights and found it a great location as a base to drive around the Ring of Kerry. The hotel provided great food, both breakfast (included) and dinner, which was plentiful and delicious, and the bar area was great with a good atmosphere.
Our staying here was nice, the family room was very big and clean. Being located on the road could be a little noisy, but the ancient atmosphere, the garden, good cuisine and of course a pint of Guinness gave value to the place! Absolutely recommended.
It was my first time in Ireland, but I really loved eating and drinking here. Always felt welcome and plenty of Guinness to go around. To my surprise, they had a decent IPA. I think it was the Kilarney IPA. There was some piano music one of the nights we were there. I think he works there too. Also friendly. Great time.
Travelling through Glenbeigh from Dingle during the week, felt tired and decided to stop off at Glenbeigh Hotel and what a bonus this was. This hotel is an absolute gem, and has the added bonus of the beautiful Glenross beach nearby. The food in this hotel is far superior to what is generally available in 5 star hotels. I would like to add following points to my earlier review. Although the room may be somewhat dated, it does in a strange way add to the uniqueness of this hotel. Finally one of the strongest points of this hotel is, undoubtedly, the brilliant staff. From the moment I entered the establishment I was treated with courtesy by every member of staff. The girls on reception were so friendly and helpful, the girl in the dining room (at breakfast) was top class. The Manageress, though almost snowed under by diners, was very much in control of the situation and I was greatly impressed by the courteous and efficient way she handled everything - this lady is practically irreplaceable. Finally, the gentleman in control of the bar, I can't decide whether it was his work ethic or his general demeanour that I was most impressed by. He is obviously a person of great experience in the bar trade, he never stopped working while he answered the numerous requests made to him - what a lovely man, he obviously loves his job. I also believe he is a great pianist, it is my intention to verify this shortly. One final point I took particular note of, the Manageress did not "tell" staff what to do - she "asked" them - not too many people in authority have mastered this art. To sum up, I would much prefer to spend a vacation in this hotel than in some 5 star hotels around Ireland. A massive THANK YOU to all concerned.
Beautiful food in the pub. Highly recommend fish and chips the beer batter melted in ur mouth. Unreal. Decent prices. Great friendly efficient service. Would come again 100%
Had drinks twice here, nice pint, really enjoyed, the staff were friendly. Had dinner once and it was a good meal, I had the chowder and the roux had the texture like it was broken so a very grainy and course chowder, but on the positive it was full of fish so that helped
